Matt Pecina — Creative Direction, Set Design, Prop Styling, Curation

Originally from Oak Cliff, Texas, I have lived and worked in New York City since 2010.

As a youth, I skated, lived through punk and indie music, and created a lot of mixed-media artwork. Today, I am a multi-disciplinary creative working in the design, fashion and home industries.

I began my profesional career designing window displays for Anthropologie and then later as a Visual Merchandiser at ABC Carpet and Home. It is at ABC that I cultivated a deep passion for interior design and my 360 approach to visual storytelling.

Now, I work primarily on photoshoots as an Art Director and Prop Stylist, and as a Creative Consultant for forward-thinking people and brands.

I believe in delivering work that is meaningful, strategic, and connected to contemporary culture.

I love talking about chairs.

“With a unique skill in creating work that connects with both the design community as well as a younger street audience—two circles that in the past did not often intersect— the Studio Guapo founder uses his innate curiosity, talent, and culture to shift the conversation around design.”

- Gabriela Ulloa for Architectural Digest Oct 14th, 2022 from “What the Design World Can Learn From These 11 Latinx Creatives.”
